Handel the Philanthropist

Dates: 16.1.2009 to 28.6.2009. Marking the 250th anniversary of Handel's death (23 February 1759) this exhibition is in partnership with the Royal Society of Musicians with which, as the 'Fund for Decay'd Musicians', Handel was also extensively involved. This exhibition focuses on Handel's charitable life as well as his musical career in the 18th century that was intrinsically linked to his altruistic activities. Works of art and items of historical value will be displayed alongside an active public programme of concerts and events celebrating the composer's life and achievements.
