Proof

17 November 2009 - 21 November 2009. A Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Auburn, Proof is the compelling story of a woman haunted by her father's past and the shadow of her own future. It explores the fine line between genius and madness, the relationships within a family and the concept of truth. For some years now, Catherine, a woman in her late twenties, has cared for her mentally unstable father, a mathematical genius named Robert. On his death, Catherine must deal not only with the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire, but also with the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father who wants to comb the genius's numerous notebooks for some publishable work. As Catherine confronts Hal's affections and her sister's overbearing plans for her life, she struggles to come to terms with the implications of her father's death. She has inherited at least some of his mathematical ability; will she inherit his madness too.
