Fragments

Dates: 10.11.2008 to 8.11.2009. The metalwork collection includes many small fragments of objects that are rarely displayed. These are often beautiful, intriguing and revealing. On first seeing them, we might wonder what they are. By examining a detail we can understand more about the whole object - what it is made of, and how it was made. Each object has an interesting story linked to its inclusion in the collection. One fragment may have been acquired as an excellent example of craftsmanship. Another may be a useful sample of a particular period or style.
