Henry VIII Remembered

Dates: 20.9.2008 to 12.7.2009. Today's visual image of King Henry VIII has been heavily influenced by Holbein's portraits. To coincide with the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne the National Portrait Gallery will display lesser known printed images from the Gallery's archives of the King from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries alongside portrait prints of some of those involved in the key events of his reign. The display will contain 26 items including woodcuts, prints and line engravings.
